PEAK DISTRICT SERVICE

Start with the problem, not the implant

Dental implants can be useful, but they are not automatically the right answer to every missing or failing tooth.

Understand first. Explain second. Recommend third. Let the patient decide.

WHAT CAN PEAK IMPLANTS HELP WITH?

Implant and restorative options for common problems

01

One missing tooth

An implant-supported crown may be one way to replace a single missing tooth, but bridges, removable replacement or accepting the space may also deserve consideration.

02

Several missing teeth

Several missing teeth do not necessarily mean one implant for every gap. An implant-supported bridge, tooth-supported bridge, partial denture or a combination of approaches may be more appropriate.

03

A loose denture

In suitable situations, implants can be used to improve the retention of a removable denture. The denture remains removable, but may feel more secure when eating and speaking.

04

Failing teeth

When several teeth have a poor outlook, the first question is which teeth are worth keeping and what replacement plan makes sense for the mouth as a whole.

05

Full-arch implant treatment

Where most or all teeth in one jaw may need replacing, fixed and removable implant-supported options can sometimes be considered after careful assessment.

06

Implant second opinions

If you already have a proposed implant, extraction, grafting or full-arch treatment plan and would like another view before deciding, a second-opinion consultation may help clarify the diagnosis, alternatives and reasoning.

CLINICIAN-LED PLANNING

Local access to clinician-led implant planning

Peak Implants™ brings together implant and restorative information for people looking for care in and around the Peak District.

It is not designed around selling a particular implant treatment.

The recommendation comes after the assessment.

The purpose is to make it easier to understand:

• what may be causing the problem

• whether existing teeth can reasonably be retained

• what replacement options are available

• when implants may or may not be appropriate

• what treatment could involve

• important limitations and risks

• maintenance requirements

• the alternatives

Restorative-first implant planning

Dr Gregory Flint provides implant and restorative dentistry with a restorative-first approach.

He qualified in dentistry from Newcastle University in 2001 and has undertaken postgraduate development in restorative dentistry, implant dentistry and CBCT assessment.

His planning starts with the intended final result: what should the replacement tooth or teeth achieve, what is realistically maintainable, and which treatment route best fits the individual situation?

YOUR CONSULTATION

What happens at an implant consultation?

The consultation is a clinical conversation about where you are now, what you would like to change and the realistic ways of getting there.

A consultation does not commit you to implant treatment.

Implant consultation fee: £120

If treatment is recommended, you will receive a personalised written treatment and fee plan before deciding whether to proceed.

Depending on the situation, it may include:

• discussion of your concerns and priorities

• examination of the teeth, gums and bite

• review of relevant existing X-rays or CBCT imaging

• discussion of whether further imaging is needed

• explanation of the findings

• comparison of reasonable treatment options

• discussion of likely advantages, limitations and risks

• maintenance considerations

• an explanation of the next steps

EXISTING X-RAYS OR CBCT SCANS

Existing imaging may be useful

If you already have relevant recent X-rays or a CBCT scan, these may be useful.

You can arrange to send appropriate clinical records securely or bring them with you to the consultation.

Previous imaging does not necessarily mean that no additional imaging will be required. That decision depends on the clinical assessment and the information needed for safe planning.

Please do not send clinical imaging through the ordinary general enquiry form unless you have been given a secure transfer route.
